What an invoice needs to be valid
Requirements vary by country, but most tax authorities want the same core set: who is invoicing, who is being invoiced, a unique invoice number, the date it was issued, a clear description of what was supplied, the amount, and any tax charged shown separately from the net figure. That last point matters more than people expect — tax has to be visible as its own line, not folded into a single total, or the document may not be accepted for reclaim. Sequential invoice numbers are also worth taking seriously: gaps in a numbering sequence are one of the first things an auditor asks about. If you are registered for VAT, GST or a similar scheme, your registration number usually has to appear too, which you can add to the address field here.
Common questions
Is this invoice legally valid?
It contains the fields most tax authorities require — parties, invoice number, dates, itemised supply, net, tax and total. Requirements differ by country though, so check what yours expects. If you are registered for VAT or GST, add your registration number to the address field.
Is my client data uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is built in your browser using a JavaScript PDF library and saved directly to your device. Nothing is sent to a server, which matters for a document holding a client's name, address and payment terms.
Can I save an invoice and edit it later?
Not here — refreshing the page clears the form. Keeping client data in browser storage on a shared machine is a bad trade, so the tool deliberately holds nothing. Download the PDF before you leave the page.
How is the tax calculated?
The rate is applied to the subtotal of all line items, and shown as its own line before the total. If you need different rates on different lines, the simplest approach is to produce a separate invoice per rate.
